Radial Symmetry Made Easy For Photoshop (free)

Radial Tools is a collection of actions for Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud 2020+ that simplifies ”Radial Design” and makes it more simple and fun! This collection is mainly focused around vector Photoshop shape layers but has some capabilities with bitmap images as well. Techniques using radial distribution have been available in Photoshop for many versions, but are now much easier to use at the push of a button!

1. INSTALLATION
a. Save the downloaded .atn file to your file system.
b. The recommended location is to the Photoshop Preset/Actions folder
at ”{installation folder}\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop {version}\Presets\Actions”
c. Click on the ”Load Actions...” menu item in the Action menu in the top right of the Actions window and navigate to the .atn file
d. OR drop the .atn directly onto the Photoshop Actions window from the file system.

2. IMPORTANT You MUST always begin by creating a new document using the ”New RadialTools Doc”
a. A 1200 x 1200 document is created with handy symetrical guidelines every 300 pixiels
b. All radial transforms rotate around the 600px / 600px center point

3. TO DISTRIBUTE A SHAPE AROUND THE DOCUMENT CENTERPOINT
a. Create a new shape layer
b. Select the shape with the Path Select Tool
c. Click on the appropriate radial action for the total number of copies you want to end up with ie: 'Radials 36' for 36 total shapes

4. USE THE '-MAKER' ACTIONS TO CREATE CIRCLES, RINGS, ARCS, SLICES, POLYS, AND POLYRINGS
a. The shapes are precisely centered to the document
b. The actions will allow you to scale the shapes as part of the creation process
c. Hold down the ALT / OPTION to scale from the center
