Luminosity masks are based on the brightness of individual pixels. For a continuous-tone image, like a photograph, they create perfectly feathered selections that seamlessly blend adjustments and brushstrokes into the image. Exposure blending, luminosity painting, mask painting, and layer masks are some of the applications where luminosity masks give excellent results.
The TK-mini panel creates luminosity masks on Photoshop's Channels panel that isolate light, dark, and midtone tonal ranges for the image. It's up to the user to decide how to apply these masks to their images. Tutorials on my website www.GoodLight.us provide many ideas for getting started.
The panel employs ”action-less” actions that are coded directly into the panel. Smart buttons monitor Photoshop for the current state to insure the encoded action can be accomplished. The luminosity masks are created by a new 16-bit process that insures exceptionally smooth masks and selections.
