Contour 3D models in Illustrator using WebGL and Three.JS - create fabrication ready sections from a 3D model.

Using WebGL with THREEjs, import .OBJ models and bring 3D interaction into Illustrator. This extension contours imported geometry, allowing the user to create sectional models for laser cutting, CNC milling, and other substractive fabrication/manufacturing. By hitting the button ”Send_To_Illustrator”, the contours are laid out in real world units on an illustrator canvas. Beta Version: works with OBJ import and real world scaling.

- Be sure that the geometry is scaled properly in your scene - the contour sections are constrained by the maximum artboard size in Illustrator.
- Be sure to enable ”Contour_Mode” in order to send your drawings to illustrator.

Navigate to Window>Extensions>ContourTool to open the panel. Be sure to scale up that panel so that you can comfortably navigate in the 3D scene. Using the interface in the top right, you can import an .OBJ model, rescale it, and enable ”Contour_Mode” to create sections. When ready to create the Illustrator file, click ”Send_To_Illustrator” to create a new file with contour drawings!
