The Validator plugin allows you to validate images and check for file corruption or “bit rot”. It works by computing a hash for each file and then comparing it to a previously stored value to see if your file has changed unexpectedly. In general, you will want to run this plug-in with the option “Automatically write changes into XMP” set to off in Catalog settings. See documentation for more details.

Unzip the file and store the validator.lrpugin file in your designated directory for Lightroom plugins. In Lightroom go to File > Plug-in Manager and click “Add” to install the plugin.
