Pastel Matte Photoshop Actions

11 Pastel Matte Photoshop Actions

11 Pastel Matte Photoshop Actions

Every action in this set uses frequency separation which separates the texture and color/tone into separate layers. This technique is used by professional photographers to create beautiful skin that retains natural texture. A link to my blog post for installing actions and editing the frequency separation layers is included in the download.

Once payment is complete, you can download the actions instantly.

To edit skin after applying one of these actions:

Click on the ”texture” layer and use the Spot Healing Brush Tool to remove any obvious skin blemishes such as large pores, scars and stray facial hairs. If your model has extensive or very red acne you might want to use the Spot Healing Brush before running the action. Experiment to see what works best for your photo.

Next, click on the ”base” layer. Select the Lasso tool and set the Feather amount to 15.

Select an area of your photo that you would like to smooth with the Lasso tool and go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Move the radius until the skin looks more even without looking obviously blurry or unnatural. A radius of 4-7 is usually ideal. You can move about the face and body selecting areas and then applying Gaussian blur. It's best to choose a custom radius setting for each section.

The file will be downloaded as a ZIP to your Downloads folder on your hard drive. Unzip the file and double-click on the .atn file to load it into Photoshop.

Once installed, please access the Actions panel within Photoshop by clicking on 'Window > Actions'. When the panel opens, click the radio button on the top right of the panel, and near the foot of the menu, click on 'Pastel. This will open the range of actions in the main panel window.
