Plasma implements a classic fractal noise algorithm used in realistic landscape generation. Possible pattern types include gritty/grainy to smooth color and grayscale images. At higher detail levels, grayscale textures are reminiscent of Photoshop's Clouds generator with a different visual character.
The filter is designed to work on 8- and 16-bit RGB and grayscale images and is currently implemented for the 32-bit version of Photoshop in Windows. See http://www.peterronhovde.com/plasmaexamples.html for a range of examples in an image table, illustrating some of the possibilities.
After installation, restart Photoshop, and the filter will appear under the Filter -> Render sub-menu.
Documentation is installed on the Desktop and is also available online at http://www.peterronhovde.com/plasmadocumentation.html.
The Plasma for Windows plug-in is currently available only for the 32-bit version of Adobe Photoshop in Windows (which is or can be made accessible even on 64-bit Windows systems). I anticipate implementing Mac and 64-bit Windows versions in the future.
There are no reviews currently available.
Plasma v1.0.0 is currently available for Adobe Photoshop CS6 (32-bit Windows application) through Adobe Exchange CS6.
